Jumbo Rocks

On January 15th we left the Rincon Parkway and headed to Joshua Tree National Park.  Our favorite campground at Joshua Tree is Jumbo Rocks and it was fairly full when we arrived, but we were able to secure a site for the night.

We arrived in the campground just before the full moon rose.

This is a composite of two images taken to get both the foreground and the moon properly exposed.

Later in the evening I was able to take some long exposures illuminated soley by the light of the full moon.

I went out before sunrise the next morning.

The full moon was just setting.

Very warm early morning light

A few typical views of Jumbo Rocks taken later in the morning

I even saw a couple of early wildflowers.

As we headed out of the park, we stopped at the Cholla Cactus Garden.

Next is Blythe, California for four days to attend a bluegrass festival
