Yellowstone 2016 - Part 5

After a week based out of West Yellowstone, Montana, we moved to an RV park in Gardiner, Montana, to have easier access to the northern part of Yellowstone.

Our first drive from Gardiner was into the Lamar Valley.   Just before we got to the Yellowstone River, we ran into a traffic jam caused by a herd of an estimated 500 bison.

The bison seemed determined to use the highway.

Probably to use the bridge over the river!

A little further along, they seemed content to stop and graze.

Between the highway and the Slough Creek campground, we found a group of wolf watchers and saw our first 4 wolves.  They stayed pretty far out, so these images are heavily cropped.

Fall was also arriving in the Lamar Valley.

We saw lots of Pronghorns in the Lamar Valley.

On the way back to camp, we passed this small group of Bighorn Sheep females and juveniles.
