California Spring Wildflowers - Part 5

Since the Forest Service had finally opened all the main roads in the San Rafael Mountains, driving the complete loop was again possible.  We started our fourth visit by driving Happy Canyon Road up to Cachuma Saddle and then drove down Sunset Valley Road to Nira Campground on Manzana Creek.

The lower elevations displayed very green hillsides with a few Poppies.

We started seeing quite a few blooming Chia plants.

We also found some Popcorn Flowers.

We finally started seeing Catalina Mariposa Lilies.

Prickly Phlox and Indian Paintbrush

Some of the ceanothus bushes were densely covered with blossoms.

After starting down Sunset Valley Road, we started seeing yellow poppies mixed in with the usual orange color.
