We spent two weeks based in Moab, Utah, to revisit areas and also explore new areas around this spectacular part of the state. We had not really visited the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park southwest of Moab, so we spent a day exploring in that area.
Along Highway 211 that leads to the Needles District is Newspaper Rock State Historical Monument. This large panel of petroglyphs documents usage of the site by native peoples for at least 2,000 years.
