We had a few days to drive from Salt Lake City to Portland to visit Barbara's family, so we had time to spend a couple of days at each stop and explore a little.
Our first stop was near Declo, Idaho. From here we visited Lake Walcott and the Minidoka National Wildlife Refuge.
At Lake Walcott State Park we discovered that Chaos Wars XXIII was going on. This is a week long medieval fighting instruction and competition event held every year.
Below the dam for Lake Walcott we spotted many White Pelicans.

Our next stop was near Caldwell, Idaho, from which we visited the World Center for Birds of Prey, outside of Boise.
