Colonial Williamsburg - Part 1

We had intended to visit Colonial Williamsburg in 2014, but severe thunderstorms forced us to put that off.  This year we made sure we stayed in the area long enough to insure we had a few days of good weather for a visit.  Colonial Williamsburg is a living history reconstruction of part of Williamsburg depicting what it was like in the late 1700s when it was Virginia's capitol.

Kerr Lake Ospreys

During April we spent a week at Henderson Point State Recreation Area on Kerr Lake in North Carolina.  Kerr Lake is a large reservoir which spans the North Carolina and Virginia border.  While there we were invited by the camp hosts to take a ride on the lake aboard their pontoon boat.  This gave us an opportunity to visit a nesting pair of Osprey.

Carolina Tiger Rescue

We discovered that only a few miles from where we were staying in North Carolina, there is a facility called Carolina Tiger Rescue.  This non-profit takes in and cares for large cats that were sick, injured, abandoned or seized by authorities.  Most of these animals had been private "pets" or from failed "roadside attractions".  While it was sad to see these magnificent animals here, they were experiencing a much better existence than where they had been.

With a restriction that kept us a minimum of three feet beyond the chain link fencing, getting photos without the fence in the foreground was difficult.

North Carolina Spring

Spring is finally starting to arrive in this part of the East.  Trees are now blooming and starting to leaf out.
