Bosque del Apache 2016 - Part 4

On our last day of visiting the refuge, we got to see a couple different groups of Javelinas.

Bosque del Apache 2016 - Part 3

50 miles west of Socorro, NM is the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array.  This is one of the worlds largest astronomical radio telescope systems, composed of 27 separate 85 foot wide radio telescopes arranged in a "Y" configuration, which all operate together to simulate the behavior of a much larger single radio telescope.

After visiting the VLA, we returned to visiting Bosque del Apache.

Bosque del Apache 2016 - Part 1

We returned to one of our favorite wildlife watching areas, Bosque del Apache NWR in central New Mexico.  Due to some farming issues, the grain crop that is grown for feeding the waterfowl was poor at the Bosque del Apache refuge and the birds were often feeding at the Bernardo Wildlife Refuge further north in the Rio Grande Valley.

We've always enjoyed the scenery around the refuge.
