After hearing that there were good wildflower blooms happening across Southern California, we decided to make a day trip to a couple of well known wildflower sites. Our first stop was along CA-58 at the intersection with Shell Creek Road about 20 miles east of US-101.

We then reached Soda Lake Road at the north end of the Carrizo Plain and
followed it south to CA-166.
