One new road we explored during this visit was the Gros Ventre Road up towards the headwaters of the Gros Ventre River.
Some very colorful hills
A cute pit toilet
One fascinating geological feature we discovered along this road is the Gros Ventre Landslide. On June 23, 1925, a huge landslide came off of Sheep Mountain, flowed into the valley below and damned the Gros Ventre River. On May 18, 1927, part of the natural dam failed and the resulting flood downstream obliterated the small town of Kelly.
Views of the Tetons on the drive back out
A cow moose standing in a pond near the Taggart Lake Trailhead
A beaver lodge in the same pond
Nearby this young male moose was feeding on shrubs.
Lunch at Oxbow Bend
We often found caterpillar tents with many hungry caterpillars.
Dandelion seed puff
We saw lots of different sunflowers blooming this visit.
After spending most of May in the Yellowstone area, we spent a few days visiting Grand Teton National Park. During our previous visit in October 2020, views were degraded by lots of regional wildfire smoke. During this visit, we were rewarded with much clearer skies.
The Tetons from Oxbow Bend
We saw many more wildflowers blooming in Jackson Hole than we did in Yellowstone.
Sticky Geranium
Colorful sunset from our campsite in Gros Ventre Campground

The iconic view of the T. A. Moulton Barn on Mormon Row
The John Moulton House at Mormon Row had been lifted and moved. We later found out that the stucco was cracking due to an unstable foundation and a new foundation was being prepared for preservation of the house.
Colorful horses and a few bison near the highway
Wildflowers at Pacific Creek Campground
On May 22nd, we woke to find that there had been an overnight snowfall of about 10 inches, turning the RV park into a winter wonderland.
Gibbon Falls
Firehole Falls along Firehole Canyon Drive
A couple of images from Lower Geyser Basin
A few images from Midway Geyser Basin
We often see hats that have blown beyond retrieval.
