One area in the Needles District that we enjoyed discovering was Cave Springs. This location has been used from ancient times up through modern settlers because of having a reliable water source.
This is one of the springs with a band of maidenhair ferns growing along the wall where the water seeps out.
Pictograph rock art shows that native peoples had used the area.
Much more recently a sheltered area had been used by local cowboys as a "cowboy kitchen".
