The McConkie Ranch a few miles north-west of Vernal, Utah, has many Native American rock art panels, with two areas open for public viewing. There are two separate trails for accessing these areas. We ended up doing part of one on the first day, and returned a couple of days later to visit the rock art on the other trail.
The petroglyphs are found in the rocks of a very striking cliff face.
Petroglyphs from the first visit
This is believed to depict a mountain lion.
Some were weathered and faint.
Some appeared to had been outlined with chalk.
A couple of unusual images
On our next visit we walked along the other trail.
This rock reminded us of an Easter Island head.
